There are a number of issues that could be causing the unit to not blow cool air. Please see below for troubleshooting solutions.
- Compressor may be overheated.
- Usually takes 30-45 minutes for compressor and internal protection to reset.
- Hot air from outside may be getting into the room through the vent. This will prevent proper cooling.
- Inspect and check the air duct, vent and hose for proper installation or if any tears or holes are present.
- Ensure nothing is blocking the vent.
- Do not use extensions to the exhaust duct. The fan is not strong enough for longer lengths.
- The vent should not be vented up towards the ceiling. Humid air may not be exhausted and is too heavy to vent out of hose.
- BTU Rating of Portable Air Conditioner is not powerful enough to cool the designated area.
- Higher BTU cooling power is required. See our article, Cooling Area per BTU Capacity to ensure BTU Capacity is powerful enough to cool your space.
- Windows or doors in the room are open or not closed properly.
- Make sure all windows and doors are closed.
- There may be other heat sources in the room.
- Remove or turn off any alternate heat sources if possible.
- Exhaust air duct and hose are not connected properly or it is blocked.
- Check duct connection and ensure it is working properly.
- Temperature setting is too high.
- Decrease the set temperature.
- Air filter is blocked by dust and debris.
- Clean or replace the air filter.
- The unit usually takes up to 3 minutes of operation before cooling/heating occurs. A microprocessor control delays the compressor from operating until 3 minutes have passed.
